IRON MAIDEN in Dublin Via Poor Photography

‘The Final Frontier’ European Tour kicked off in Dublin on the 30th August and, well, I was there.

The O2 Arena, Dublin

The venue: The O2 Arena.

SWEET SAVAGE performed their depressing duty as the support act. I thought they were – oh, an arm!

The roadies arguably roused up more reaction from the crowd than the entirety of SWEET SAVAGE’s set.

The band finally take the stage, arriving by Quantum Fissure.

Blurry IRON MAIDEN!

Mr. Janick Gers: close enough to touch.

Lead singer Bruce Dickinson gets the crowd into a ridiculously excited state!

The spotlight/orbiting satellite recharges Bruce at one point. . .

The final track ‘Running Free’, and the concert comes to a close.

The floor and the crowd are a glorious mess.

in conclusion: good gig.

And that was my first, and last, heavy metal concert.

    Hello Raymond,
I am very displeased to read the the caption you have place with photos of Sweet Savage, I must draw to you attention the following facts: 1. Sweet Savage were there a support band, there for it was not their gig. 2.The crowd response to Sweet Savage was amazing, almost everyone had their arms in the air clapping. 3.Sweet Savage are one of the founders of NWOBHM and there for are intitle to so respect.
I hope you can see my understanding of this and change your comment.

    Thanks

    Hey Buzz,

terribly sorry if I caused any offence with my comments, it is never my intention to do so.

    To address your points:

    1) I understand they were the support act. Still, a support act whose music I didn’t enjoy. It being their gig or not doesn’t come into it, I think.

    2) It’s a metal concert. A loud noise of any kind gets a cheering response. Sorry, but I genuinely took the crowd’s response to be a relatively tame one; more “polite” than thrilled.

    3) I judged them on the music, not their role in its history.

    Oh, and delete them?

Won’t do that. Asking me to pretty much amounts to censorship. Certainly if they were FACTS which were incorrect I’d do so, no problem.

But they’re OPINIONS. On MY blog.

Everyone has opinions. Please respect mine the way I have respected yours.
