A BATMAN Soundtrack Review
Written by my cousin on Soundtrack Geek.
Go and have a look.
IRON MAIDEN in Dublin Via Poor Photography
‘The Final Frontier’ European Tour kicked off in Dublin on the 30th August and, well, I was there.
The venue: The O2 Arena.
SWEET SAVAGE performed their depressing duty as the support act. I thought they were – oh, an arm!
The roadies arguably roused up more reaction from the crowd than the entirety of SWEET SAVAGE’s set.
The band finally take the stage, arriving by Quantum Fissure.
Blurry IRON MAIDEN!
Mr. Janick Gers: close enough to touch.
Lead singer Bruce Dickinson gets the crowd into a ridiculously excited state!
The spotlight/orbiting satellite recharges Bruce at one point. . .
The final track ‘Running Free’, and the concert comes to a close.
The floor and the crowd are a glorious mess.
in conclusion: good gig.
And that was my first, and last, heavy metal concert.
And Then I Saw A Car With The Decepticon Logo On It
A find too good not to share: before the IRON MAIDEN concert, found on a Dublin side road. . .
(And you found it, Sir.)
Writing a Novel (Part 1 of 1)
I’m planning to write a novel.
Jesus.
*DEEP BREATH*
Okay.
Last year. December 1st. At the University.
Me and Miss ********* ***** are talking. Like students do. Through several hideous connectings of topics we end up talking about writing. Stephen King and Stephanie Meyer were definitely mentioned (the latter in quite a shocking negative tone! Even though I’ve never read any of her books and thus have no real say) but other than that. . .
Ok, well, the challenge was made. I would write a book, Miss STARS would write a play.
Deadline: December 1st 2010.
The luxury of a year was great then. it fuelled my pride and settled my fear. But now it is nearing the end of June 2010 and. . . well, that leaves only 5 months!
5 months. . .
In all the time beforehand I’ve managed to get a grasp on a VERY ROUGH SETTING for the novel. Also, it has caused me to get obsessed with getting a Daily Routine. I mean, flip, Googling “Writer author routine” and variations on that ate up a *lot* of my time these past few weeks. . .
So! Below is how I’m going to get that deadline sorted:
Start the book on July 1st.
Get a thousand words/scribbles in every weekday.
Sorted!
Right?
. . .
Right?!?
OH WHAT THE HELL, BRAIN
The work on THE ESSAY?
Postponed. It was to be expected. (The research required needs the concentration currently absent at the moment.)
Now, work begins on THE NOVEL. Yes, a novel. Me, someone who writes with no rythmn, style or skill.
But a promise is a promise, one that was made on December 1st 2009 to a fellow University student. And I think I suggested that we each get our projects done (he/she/it has to do a play) a year from now.
And if I used this thing properly, that means we both have 220 days to get it done.
This will be interesting.
In The Dead of Night
Can’t sleep. Nothing else to do but get started on THE ESSAY.
Specifically, it is my second and last Media essay for the year. Due in next Thursday, but I’m gonna put pressure on myself to get it done by Sunday night.
Haha. Productivity. It never lasts.
WHERE’S MY FUCKING (Intact) COFFEE (mug)?
Oh, here it is! Arrived today, nice and undamaged.
The fine people at CafePress were nice enough to send out a replacement. My cousin will finally be getting his mug!
And I keep the large amount of bubble wrap that was required for it to survive the shipping process it’s predecessor was unable to. Only fair.
The University of Ulster Poetry Society
A few creative people have come together three times so far to read out their poetry.
It was pretty great.
Until:
I read MY poetry.
Yes, nobody was injured mentally or, by their own hand, physically. And people said it was good. Still: pessimism is good for creativity…
Please somebody tell me it’s good for creativity.
Anyway: here’s all you need to know.
